Meet Archie. He spent the last ten months of his life watching other animals find their new homes, only to wait time and time again for his chance on love.
We didn’t know much about his background prior to meeting him, but we discovered Archie is as resilient as they come. Despite being found as a nervous stray, we were amazed to see how quickly he warmed up to our staff, who was more than happy to accommodate his passion for walks, cuddles, and play time every day. While it was wonderful watching him bond with his caregivers, it was heartbreaking putting him back in his kennel every night instead of watching him drive away with a loving family like we had been waiting for.
It takes a great number of resources to care for our long-term residents, but it is all in a day’s work to fight for happy endings for animals like Archie. Thankfully, the wait was worthwhile: Archie was adopted at the end of this past September, and his new family shares he is settling in quite well! He has been enjoying catching up on some peaceful rest for the first time in a long time, and when he's not taking a well-deserved nap, he loves to play and get out his zoomies.
Archie's journey was made possible by the dedicated volunteers and staff who continuously prioritized his well-being during his time at the shelter, but we also would not have been able to provide his lengthy care without the help of our generous donors behind every bowl of food, toy, medication, and cozy bed here at the ARL. Archie thanks you for your unwavering support that provides new opportunities for animals just like him!
